Register Your Child's Birth

Birth registration services are no longer available in hospitals. Once your child is born, you must register their birth through the LifeSG app or website within 42 days.

Nationality:

To register through the LifeSG app, either you or your spouse must:

  • Be a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or long-term pass (FIN) holder
  • Have a Singpass account
  • Be the biological parent of your child

If you are not eligible for Singpass, you may register your child’s birth on the LifeSG website.

Either you or your spouse may submit the registration as the main applicant. If only 1 parent is eligible for Singpass, that parent should start the registration.

Cost of digital birth certificate: S$18

A credit or debit card is required to make payment.

What to prepare:

  • Original identity cards or passport biodata page of both parents
  • Marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • Child’s name and birth information (including optional ethnic spelling)

How to register:

Visit the LifeSG website to download the app and register your child’s birth.

What happens next:

You can check on the status of your child’s birth registration via the LifeSG app. If you provided an email address or local mobile number, you will also receive an email or SMS notification.

Once the application has been approved, you will have up to 90 days to download your child’s digital birth certificate via the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website.
