Dr Adrian Koh is an ophthalmologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.

His areas of expertise include degenerative macular diseases like age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, choroidal neovascularisation, as well as inherited retinal diseases like retinitis pigmentosa, visual electrophysiology, fundus angiography and retinal vascular disease.

He is a visiting consultant to the vitreo-retinal service at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and the eye institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

He is a council member of the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the immediate past president of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology. He was the vice president and secretary-general of the 21st Congress of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology held in Singapore.

He is the founding chairman and honorary adviser to the Retinitis Pigmentosa Society Singapore. He is also a member of Retina International and the Asia-Pacific Advisory Board for photodynamic therapy, lucentis and medical retina.

His past appointments include deputy head of the retina research group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), director of the SNEC-SERI Visual Electrophysiology Laboratory, director of the undergraduate curriculum in ophthalmology at National University of Singapore, visiting consultant at National University Hospital, treasurer-general of WORLDEYES, head of the medical photography department at SNEC, and adjunct scientist at SERI.

He completed fellowships in medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, as well as at the Jules Stein Eye Institute in the USA.

In diagnostics, Dr Koh’s expertise is in identifying and evaluating retinal diseases. He receives referrals from eye and retinal specialists locally and from the region, for expert opinion and advice on management of these complex and sometimes rare cases.

In the field of visual electrophysiology, he studied under Professor Graham Holder and Professor Geoffrey Arden and helped establish an ISCEV-standards visual electrophysiology laboratory at SNEC.

In the field of macular degeneration, he specialises in the use of verteporfin photodynamic therapy, anti-VEGF therapy and combination therapy in Asia.

He also specialises in the use of laser techniques using the PASCAL system, and intravitreal adjunctive therapies such as lucentis and triamcinolone for the treatment of severe diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular oedema, retinal vein obstruction and other retinal vascular diseases.
