Dr Andrew Choong is a vascular, endovascular and aortic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
He is experienced in complex open, hybrid and endovascular aortic surgery.
He also performs all vascular surgery including open and minimally invasive varicose vein surgery, arteriovenous fistula/graft creation and maintenance, lower limb revascularisation for critical limb ischaemia, carotid surgery, line insertion and removal, retroperitoneal spine exposures, and thrombolysis/aspiration thrombectomy for deep venous thromboses.
Prior to joining private practice, he was a senior consultant vascular, endovascular and aortic surgeon at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS).
Dr Choong graduated from the Imperial College London School of Medicine at St Mary’s, UK. He underwent training in vascular, endovascular and aortic surgery in the UK and Australia at the imperial vascular unit at St Mary’s Hospital London, and as the international fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Australia. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Warwick, UK, for his research on endovascular surgery.
After practising in the UK and Australia, he left his consultant post at King’s College Hospital, UK, to join NUHCS. At NUHCS, he introduced the retroperitoneal open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms. He is also the earliest doctor in Singapore to do visceral hybrid repair of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms.
He was a senior consultant and an associate professor at the department of surgery at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.
