He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

While at KTPH, Dr Chai was the clinical lead in the HALT-CKD programme (holistic approach in lowering and tracking chronic kidney disease). He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
