Dr Pamela Chan is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist at The Psychiatric & Behavioural Medicine Clinic at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree at National University of Singapore in 1986, and has worked in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the National University Hospital before entering Psychiatry specialist training. In 1988 she worked in the UK and trained at the Charing Cross Hospital Rotation in London, obtaining experience in group and individual psychotherapy, psychogeriatric mental handicap, perinatal and liaison psychiatry.
In 1991, she qualified as a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, United Kingdom, and upon return to Singapore, she served as a lecturer in the Department of Psychological Medicine, National University of Singapore until entering private practice in 1996.
At the organizational level, she has been consultant to many corporations on managing stress, managing transitions and lifestyle changes. She has published in journals on depression, eating disorders and is experienced in women's mental health. She is a founding member of both the Association of Women Doctors (Singapore) and Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy. She is a member of the Association for family and marital therapy Singapore and also serves as an external examiner in behavioral medicine for the Australian and New Zealand college of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
