Dr Alan Cheung is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in sports injury as well as hip and knee replacement using robotic surgery.
Dr Cheung is one of the few surgeons in Asia to be trained in the MAKOplasty, Robodoc and NAVIO robotic surgical systems.
He completed his surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics in London, and underwent his fellowship training in joint reconstruction and musculoskeletal oncology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.
Prior to starting private practice, Dr Cheung was a consultant at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Dr Cheung was a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
He was also an instructor for a hip and knee reconstruction course in Myanmar, and is regularly invited to teach courses in the Asia Pacific, instructing other surgeons on how to perform the latest techniques in sports and joint reconstruction surgery.
Dr Cheung is a member of the Association of Ringside Physicians, USA.
He is also the international member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine, UK.
Dr Cheung provides medical coverage for several international sporting events. He leads the local medical team for the ONE Championship and ONE Warrior mixed martial events in Singapore, and is the match day’s doctor for events such as the HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens and Super Rugby.
He is the recipient of awards including the Sydney Long Prize in Surgery, the AW Beard Prize in Psychiatry, and the Howard Murray and FMR Walshe Prize in Neurosurgery.
