Dr Chia Sing Joo is a urologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical interests are in uro-oncology, sexual dysfunction and subfertility, as well as robotic surgery for minimally invasive procedures for the management of cancer in the prostate, bladder and kidney.
Dr Chia is a visiting senior consultant to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he has served for more than 3 decades. He has held several positions, including the head of the general surgery department from 2001 – 2010, the divisional chief of surgery from 2005 – 2014, and the founding head of the urology department from 2011 – 2012.
He has also held appointments at medical institutions such as the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and is on the Ministry of Health’s specialist board training committee since 2005.
He is the recipient of Long Service Awards from TTSH in 2017, and National Day Awards for SARS in 2003.
Dr Chia was previously a clinical associate professor and the advanced trauma management course director at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
He has authored 2 textbooks, and was featured in local and international publications such as Asian Journal of Surgery, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, British Journal of Cancer, British Journal of Urology, and International Journal of Andrology.
Dr Chia has also been active in research investigations, and has patents filed for a biodegradable ureteral stent, uroflow machine and urethra-vesical biodegradable stapler.
