Dr Chng Nai Wee is an ophthalmology (eye) specialist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore. His clinical interests are in complex cataract and refractive cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, LASIK, and presbyopia treatment.
Dr Chng Nai Wee graduated with Honours in Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and National University of Ireland in 1993. He received the Gold Medal from The Children’s Hospital, the French O'Carroll Medal for Best Essay, and achieved first place in Family Medicine. He gained full-certification in the United States Foreign Medical Graduates Examinations and held full registrations to practise in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Ireland.
He specialised in Ophthalmology, earned a Masters in Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the National University of Singapore, and was appointed a Clinical Tutor in the Faculty of Medicine. He has also gained full-certification from the International Council of Ophthalmology. Dr Chng received Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, College of Surgeons in Hong Kong, and the Academy of Medicine in Singapore. He also holds a Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.
Dr Chng completed his Advanced Surgical Training at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and served as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Cataract service and Refractive LASIK service. He established the Wet Laboratory Training Facility, and trained many aspiring eye specialists in Ophthalmic Microsurgery and Cataract Surgery, also giving instructional lectures at the meetings of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr Chng received the Best Research Paper Award for the Singapore-Malaysia Ophthalmology Meeting, and presented clinical research papers on Presbyopia Multi-focal Lenses and Aspheric Lenses at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and European Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. In 2009, Dr Chng joined Eagle Eye Centre as the Director of Aesthetic and Comprehensive Ophthalmic Surgeries.
