Dr Chong Choon Seng is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical interest is in minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer and advanced endoscopy.
He was a former senior consultant in colorectal and general surgery at the National University Health System (NUHS). He was also a surgical oncologist in the colorectal cancer tumour group at the National University Cancer Institute.
Dr Chong graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and obtained his fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He received a Health Manpower Development Plan Award and completed his further training at Samsung Medical Center, South Korea.
He is an adjunct associate professor in the department of surgery at NUS. He is also an instructor for many regional centres for cancer treatment where he teaches on colonoscopic stenting, keyhole and robotic surgery for colorectal cancer, and transanal total mesorectum excision for rectal cancer. Internationally, he is a visiting expert with Boston Scientific and a collaborator in the COLOR III trial.
Dr Chong has obtained numerous grants and published in more than 100 publications in the fields of colorectal cancer and education. He is also part of editorial boards and an invited speaker at local and overseas conferences.
He is a faculty member of several societies including the ASEAN Society of Colorectal Surgeons and the Asian-Pacific Study Group for Gastrointestinal Surgery.
