Dr Chui Chan Hon is a paediatric surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical interests are paediatric surgical oncology and paediatric endoscopic surgery. He treats childhood cancers including solid tumours like neuroblastoma, sarcoma and recurrent solid tumours.
Dr Chui was a senior consultant and head of the department of paediatric surgery at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). He is currently a visiting consultant in the department of paediatric surgery there.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He subsequently completed his basic surgical training and obtained his fellowship diploma in surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow, UK. He underwent advanced surgical training in paediatric surgery under the Academy of Medicine and on his completion, he was awarded the Certificate of Specialist Accreditation in paediatric surgery by the Ministry of Health.
Dr Chui completed a fellowship programme in paediatric surgical oncology at St Jude Children's Research Hospital, USA. Upon his return to Singapore, he led the development of paediatric surgical oncology at KKH. He established the Children’s Cancer Research Laboratory there researching childhood solid malignancies and was one of the earliest surgeons to develop the paediatric minimally invasive surgery programme at KKH.
Besides his clinical work, he was a clinical senior lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
He is an advisor at the Guangdong Province Anti-Cancer Association, China, and a member and past secretary in the executive board of the International Society of Pediatric Surgical Oncology.
Dr Chui has travelled widely to give presentations and has published extensively in many peer-reviewed international and local journals. He is an associate editor of the World Journal of Pediatric Surgery.
