Dr Eu Kong Weng is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical areas of interest are in minimally invasive surgery, specialising in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for colorectal cancer and the management of all colorectal conditions.
Dr Eu was the former head of department for colorectal surgery at Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
He graduated from the National University of Singapore and fulfilled his residency and fellowships at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He also served a training stint as an advanced trainee and clinical fellow at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA.
He was also the director of the SGH Tripartite Robotics Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery Project, an initiative that pioneers cutting-edge surgical technologies. Dr Eu has conducted more than 600 laparoscopic colon and rectal operations and more than 50 robotic colorectal resections. He has more than 25 years’ experience in treating colorectal conditions.
Besides his clinical work, he is an adjunct professor of surgery at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a visiting professor at the University of Hong Kong. Dr Eu’s work is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and colorectal surgery textbooks and has been produced into colorectal surgery training videos.
He was the president of the ASEAN Society of Colorectal Surgeons and the president of the Singapore Society of Colorectal Surgeons.
