Graduated with his MBBS from the National University Of Singapore in 1973Dr Richard Guan is widely recognized as an expert in the field of viral hepatitis in the Asia Pacific region and has regularly been invited to give talks on viral hepatitis and liver diseases at both local and regional conferences. Besides being a part-time lecturer with several organisations in Singapore, Dr Guan has been a member of teaching faculties in local and regional scientific meetings. He organizes and/or assists in numerous national and regional scientific meetings for physicians as well as educational meetings for the public. He lectures extensively at seminars, study groups, and to general practitioners locally as well as regionally.
Dr Guan has published more than 100 scientific articles, more than 150 abstracts and several chapters of books. He is an editorial board member of Hepatology International, Hepatitis World, Digestive Tract, and the Bangladesh Journal of Gastroenterology and the editor-in-chief of Management of Common Gastroenterological Problems: A Malaysia & Singapore Perspective, a book on local gastroenterological problems. He serves on several editorial committees of journals, newsletters and drug directories both locally and regionally. Dr Guan is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Journal of Viral Hepatitis, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Hepatology International, International Journal of Hepatology among others.
