Dr Ho Gim Hin is a gastroenterologist at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
His subspeciality interests are in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and clinical nutrition. He is an advocate for colorectal cancer screening. He manages digestive conditions such as reflux and heartburn, diarrhoea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, piles, bloating, abdominal pain and liver diseases like fatty liver and hepatitis B. He performs endoscopic procedures like gastroscopy, colonoscopy, polyp removal, and insertion of feeding tubes and devices like percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy.
Dr Ho was a gastroenterologist at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and established the inflammatory bowel disease service there. He also started the inflammatory bowel disease sub-specialist clinic and outpatient biologic infusion service there.
He graduated from the University College London, UK and spent a fellowship year at Pfizer UK. He then went to Duke-NUS Medical School and subsequently underwent internal medicine training at SingHealth. He attained membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and a master’s in internal medicine. He also underwent specialist training at the National University Hospital. He is a fellow for gastroenterology at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr Ho has authored several research papers and continues to be a reviewer for several journals. He contributes articles on gastroenterology to several local magazines and newspapers.
He was a senior clinical lecturer and gastroenterology teaching lead for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He is an examiner for its final-year medical school examinations. He was an adjunct teaching faculty and clinical teacher for Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and IBD content expert for the school at KTPH. He was a faculty member of the National Healthcare Group’s (NHG) gastroenterology programme and lecturer for NHG family medicine residency. Dr Ho also lectures at IBD preceptorships and GP symposiums, and to graduating students at his alma mater.
