Dr Khoo Chong Kiat is an obstetrician and gynaecologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
He was previously with the minimally invasive surgery unit at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital (KKH).
Dr Khoo received his Health Manpower Development Plan award and did endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) at CHU de Clermont-Ferrand, France. He holds the European University diploma of gynaecologic operative endoscopy, awarded by CHU de Clermont-Ferrand. Upon his return to Singapore, he helped to set up KKH’s endometriosis centre. He has more than 20 years of experience practising medicine.
He has been invited as a teaching faculty and international speaker at various MIS conferences around the world. His favourite topics include laparoscopic hysterectomies, myomectomies, ovarian cystectomies, single port, including vNOTES, contained in-bag fibroid morcellation and ectopic pregnancies. He was involved in the teaching and training of KKH MIS overseas fellows from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Germany. He is currently serving as the vice secretary-general of APAGE.
Besides his clinical work, Dr Khoo was appointed adjunct assistant professorships at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medical School and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He was also the inaugural core faculty member of the SingHealth academic clinical programme obstetrics and gynaecology residency programme. Dr Khoo also went on a Macy scholarship as a clinician-educator to Harvard Medical School, USA.
Dr Khoo was previously the treasurer and honorary secretary of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He was also the section head of gynae-endoscopy.
He is a certified colposcopist with the Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology of Singapore.
