Dr Mark Khoo, a Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon, has more than 10 years experience in the field. At his Mount Elizabeth Novena clinic, he provides specialised care in thyroid surgery, salivary gland surgery as well as head and neck cancer surgery.

Following his graduation from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1990), he completed his basic training and went on to specialise in Otolaryngology (FRCS Edinburgh and Glasgow, 1995). Then, through the Higher Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Fellowship Award, he undertook sub-speciality training in Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada from 1999 to 2001.

Apart from his practice at Mount Elizabeth Novena, Dr Khoo is a Visiting Consultant to the National Cancer Centre and the John Hopkins International Medical Centre. He is also an Honorary Consultant to Dover Park Hospice.

Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Khoo was a senior consultant at the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. During his tenure, he served in various administrative roles, some of which include coordinating the ENT Head & Neck Tumour Board and the Head & Neck trials in the department. In 2003, he was appointed Chief of the Head and Neck Service.

Dr Khoo also took on teaching with fervour. He has been a Clinical Lecturer with the National University of Singapore since 2004 and an Adjunct Associate Professor with the NUS Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School since 2007. He has also been an Examiner for the Masters of Medicine Otolaryngology examinations from 2003.

His vast experience in the ENT surgical field has also taken him to various international conferences. Travelling to the US, Canada, Australia and China on a regular basis, Dr Khoo has presented on topics ranging from nasopharyngeal cancers to thyroid cancers. He has also been an invited speaker in Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar, where he has shared his expertise through presentations and demonstrations. As an extensively published doctor in the field of Otolaryngology, he also has various local, regional and international journals to his name.

Dr Khoo’s commitment to the medical arena has not gone unnoticed. In 2003, he received the Commendation Medal (Pinkat Kepujian) as part of the National Day Awards that year and the Courage Star for his dedication to his patients during the SARS epidemic.
