Dr Koh Hong Yi is a dermatologist practising in Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He subspecialises in psoriasis, phototherapy, dermatologic surgery, Mohs micrographic surgery and skin cancers. He has special interests in medical and inpatient dermatology, including severe eczema and drug allergies.
Dr Koh graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2002. He obtained his Master of Medicine in internal medicine and his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) of the United Kingdom (UK) in 2008.
He was awarded the SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan in 2016 to pursue his subspecialty training in skin cancers, advanced dermatologic surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery in the UK. He also underwent another fellowship in photodermatology at the St. John’s Institute of Dermatology in London, UK.
Prior to private practice, Dr Koh was a consultant dermatologist at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he founded the Mohs micrographic surgery service for high risk skin cancers.
He was also a visiting consultant in the National Cancer Centre, an adjunct assistant professor to Duke-NUS Medical School, an assistant programme director and core faculty to the National Dermatology Senior Residency training programme, and clinical tutor to NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Currently, he is an honorary secretary of the Chapter of Dermatologists, an executive committee member of the Dermatological Society of Singapore, and a committee member of the Psoriasis Association of Singapore.
Dr Koh has contributed chapters to authoritative textbooks and atlases, such as Dermatology (Bolognia, J., et al, 4th Ed) and the Asian Skin Atlas (Chua, S. H., et al, 2nd Ed). He has also published many papers in peer-reviewed journals, and has presented his research at both international and regional conferences.
He was awarded the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Overseas Service Medal and Good Service Medal for taking part in the SCDF humanitarian mission to Nias Island, Indonesia after an earthquake.
Dr Koh has also received the SingHealth Service with a Heart Award in 2010, 2013 and 2015, and the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Gold) in 2015.
