Dr Leong Swan Swan is an oncologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore.
She manages cancer patients with lung cancer, head and neck cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, or gynaecological cancers.
Prior to leaving for private practice, Dr Leong was a senior consultant at the National Cancer Centre, and was involved in the clinical management of cancer patients and multidisciplinary care, especially for lung cancer and head and neck cancers. At the National Cancer Centre, she also served as the director of the Ambulatory Treatment Unit.
Dr Leong was a clinical lecturer for medical students, and was involved in undergraduate teaching as well as teaching for junior staff and nurses.
Dr Leong is actively involved in clinical research, with her main research interest in lung cancer and head and neck cancers. She continues to be involved with multicentre clinical trials that provide the option of new, promising treatments for some patients. She also helped to set up and run the Lung Cancer Consortium Singapore.
She has published widely in both local and International journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Chest, Cancer, and has written book chapters for the staging and treatment of lung cancer. Recognised for her expertise in lung and other cancers, she was a reviewer for several journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Respirology and Singapore Medical Journal.
She is a member of American Society of Oncology, Singapore Society of Oncology, and is serving in the Bylaws Committee of International Association of the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). She is also the auditor for the Society of Geriatric Oncology.
