Dr Vivien Lim is an endocrinologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
She is experienced in the treatment and management of diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary disorders, as well as imbalanced male and female hormones.
After gaining her membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians, UK and her master’s degree in internal medicine in Singapore, Dr Lim completed her training in Singapore and was accredited as a specialist in endocrinology. Subsequently, she was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award to gain experience in treating complex cases of endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic, USA.
She has been active in the national and international endocrine podium and have served in various leadership positions over the years including president of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies and the Endocrine Metabolic Society of Singapore, and executive committee member of the Endocrine Metabolic Society of Singapore, the International Society of Endocrinology and the Osteoporosis Society Singapore.
Dr Lim has a passion for teaching and has been invited to give many talks both nationally and internationally in various endocrine meetings on a wide variety of topics to both healthcare professionals and the public. She served on various education boards including the International Society of Endocrinology as well as on editorial boards. She was involved in organising several regional endocrine conferences in Singapore, and she was the chairperson of the combined conference of the International Congress of Endocrinology, the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies and the Asia-Oceania Congress of Endocrinology held in Singapore.
Dr Lim’s other passion is for humanitarian causes and is an associate member of Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) in Singapore. She had been active in past medical missions to places such as Kenya, during the tsunami in 2005 in Sri Lanka and during Typhoon Haiyan and the Bohol earthquake in 2013 in the Philippines.
She is the recipient of the Healthcare Humanity Award.
