Dr Lim Jit Fong is a general surgeon practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
Dr Lim has a strong interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery. He is adept at laparoscopic (keyhole) colorectal surgery, including single incision (single keyhole) colorectal surgery. He is also accredited to perform robotic colorectal surgery.
His other clinical interests include colorectal cancer management, haemorrhoids, fistula-in-ano, faecal incontinence and dyssynergic defecation.
After completing his advanced specialty training in general surgery in 2003, Dr Lim was conferred a Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Fellowship to further his training in management of functional defaecatory disorders and minimally invasive colorectal surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia.
Upon returning from Australia in 2005, Dr Lim worked as a consultant in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at SGH before leaving for private practice in 2011.
During his time at SGH, Dr Lim was the director of the Pelvic Floor Disorder Service, Anorectal Physiology and Ultrasound Laboratory, and Clinical Research in the Department of Colorectal Surgery. He also coordinated the Department of Colorectal Surgery’s Medical Education at the hospital.
He is currently a visiting consultant at the Department of General Surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Dr Lim serves on the executive committee of both the Society for Continence and Society of Colorectal Surgeons in Singapore. He is a member of the Singapore Medical Association.
He also serves on an editorial board and regularly reviews research publications for several peer-reviewed journals.
