Dr Lim Keng Hua is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
He has special interests in nose and sinus diseases, and allergies, with a subspecialty focus on rhinology and sinonasal allergy. With more than 18 years of clinical practice, he is also well-versed in managing both adult and children ENT problems such as ear infections, hearing loss, voice disorders, snoring and sleep disorders, salivary gland disorders and thyroid swelling.
Dr Lim was a former consultant at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he started the allergy and immunotherapy service to manage difficult nasal allergies and smell disorders. He continues to be a visiting consultant at TTSH.
He obtained his bachelor’s and master's degrees in otorhinolaryngology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. Dr Lim was awarded a clinical rhinology fellowship by the Ministry of Health to train in Europe in the management of rhinology, endoscopic skull base surgery and sinonasal allergy.
He was the lead ENT tutor and adjunct lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, senior clinical lecturer at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and core faculty member in the National Healthcare Group ENT residency programme.
With an interest in inverted papilloma, nasal polyposis, chronic rhinosinusitis and allergic rhinitis, Dr Lim has published in local and international journals, and has collaborated with several international centres like Beijing Tongren Hospital to improve the management of chronic rhinosinusitis.
Dr Lim received a Clinician-Investigator Award for his work on allergic rhinitis at the 2011 Singapore Health & Biomedical Congress. He was the earliest doctor to use 5-Fluorouracil in the management of sinonasal inverted papilloma.
He teaches allergy and rhinology courses and endoscopic sinus skull base courses organised by TTSH, Changi General Hospital, Singapore General Hospital and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. He also teaches functional endoscopic sinus surgery and skull base courses in Thailand, and is on the panel of reviewers for the International Journal of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology and the journal Rhinology.
Dr Lim is a member of the American Rhinologic Society, the European Rhinologic Society, the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society (Singapore) and the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery. He was an executive member of the Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery Singapore. He is also a member of standard setting committee for ENT specialist exit exam at the Academy of Medicine.
