Dr Lim Mui Hong is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. Dr Lim subspecialises in sports medicine and his clinical interests include the management of sports injuries, and arthroscopic and open treatment of knee and shoulder conditions.
Conditions that Dr Lim treats include cruciate ligament injuries, cartilage and meniscus injuries, multi-ligament knee injuries, patellar instability, osteoarthritis of the knee and shoulder, shoulder instability and rotator cuff conditions.
Dr Lim was awarded the Local Study Award (Medicine) from the Singapore Armed Forces in 1992 for his undergraduate studies and graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1997. He received his Master of Medicine in orthopaedic surgery in 2002 and completed his Advanced Specialist Training in orthopaedic surgery in 2007. He is accredited in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine by the Singapore Medical Council. He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore.
Dr Lim underwent postgraduate fellowship training in knee and shoulder surgery at Warringal Hospital and The Park Clinic in Melbourne, Australia. During the 1-year overseas clinical fellowship programme, he was trained in both arthroscopic and open surgeries of the knee and shoulder such as ligament reconstruction, shoulder stabilisation and joint replacement.
Dr Lim has served in the public sector in various appointments. He was Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also Head of Sports Medicine and Surgery Service. Dr Lim held various staff appointments in the Singapore Armed Forces including Head of Soldier Performance Centre at the Deputy Commander Military Medicine Institute. He participated in various peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. He continues to contribute as an active NSman and a visiting consultant.
Dr Lim is active in clinical research and has published several scientific papers and a textbook chapter. He is a reviewer for various peer reviewed journals. He has trained doctors in the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme and overseas fellowships. He presents regularly at scientific conferences and contributes as a faculty member for courses.
Dr Lim is passionate about golf and distance running. He participates regularly in both local and overseas half and full marathon events. He has completed several overseas full marathons in places such as Tokyo, Berlin, Honolulu, Gold Coast, Osaka and Kobe. He aims to maintain his participation in these events.
