Dr Frances Lim is a general surgery at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
Her specialty is in colorectal and general surgeries with special interests in inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. She is also skilled in minimally invasive procedures.
She was a senior consultant at the National Cancer Institute Singapore and in the division of colorectal surgery at the National University Health System (NUHS).
Dr Lim graduated from the University of Calgary, Canada. She completed a general surgery residency at the State University of New York, USA, and then completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Washington Hospital Center, USA.
Besides her clinical work, she was the programme director for the general surgery residency and the past programme director for the colorectal surgery fellowship programme at NUHS.
Dr Lim has spoken on numerous gastroenterological procedures and patient management topics at conferences ranging from the Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia to the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She is published in many peer-reviewed journals and has written chapters for medical textbooks.
She was awarded the A*STAR BEP Grant for a disposable, self-administered haemorrhoidal therapy device where she was the lead clinical co-principal investigator. This device is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and is currently in the process of a patent application around the world.
