Dr Bernard Lim is a general surgeon specialising in colorectal surgery at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. He subspecialises in minimally invasive colorectal surgery and is an accredited console surgeon for the latest da Vinci robotic surgical system.
He was a specialty board member for the Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons, Singapore from 2013 to 2015. Dr Lim is also a life member of the Endoscopic, Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA) and has also served in the executive committee of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore).
Dr Lim was trained in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he was a consultant surgeon. His training included conventional laparoscopic, single-port and robotic surgery.
Dr Lim received the Singhealth Health Manpower Development Programme fellowship to train at Queen Mary Hospital in advanced minimally invasive surgery. He has since conducted several workshops and courses in laparoscopic colorectal surgery. He has trained colorectal specialists and trainees in advanced laparoscopic colorectal surgery both locally in SGH and Changi General Hospital (CGH), and regionally. He is still an active visiting consultant at the Department of Surgery at CGH.
Dr Lim was very active in clinical practice, teaching and conducting research in the latest surgical approaches. He was an adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and clinical lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Aside from his practice at SGH, he was also a visiting consultant to the Department of Surgical Oncology, National Cancer Centre.
