Dr Mohamad Rosman is an ophthalmologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
In addition to managing general eye conditions, he specialises in refractive surgery (LASIK, SMILE, PRK/LASEK/transPRK and ICL), cataract surgeries with advanced intraocular lenses and presbyopia treatment.
Prior to joining private practice, he was the former head of the refractive surgery department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He is currently a visiting consultant there.
Dr Rosman started his ophthalmology career at SNEC. He held multiple positions there including senior consultant ophthalmologist and head of the refractive surgery department, and oversaw the Laser Vision Centre.
He was also a senior consultant in the cataract surgery department and former head of the optometry department. He was the clinical director of the private patient service and a core faculty for ophthalmology resident training. He was also the chairman for the medical devices committee, where he led the committee to evaluate and assess the effectiveness and safety of new and advanced lenses and equipment for cataract and refractive surgery.
He was among the earliest to use several new intraocular lenses, cataract and refractive surgery devices in the region. He has more than 25 years’ experience practising medicine and has performed more than 20,000 cataract, LASIK and other eye surgeries throughout his career.
He was a clinical associate professor at Duke-NUS Medicine School and a clinical senior lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Dr Rosman is involved in education for pre-university, university and postgraduate students. He was the key cataract surgery and refractive surgery trainer at SNEC. He has trained many eye doctors to perform LASIK, SMILE, ICL, PRK, cataract and femtosecond cataract surgeries. He was also in charge of and was involved in many skills transfer courses for refractive and cataract surgery both locally and internationally. He still teaches junior doctors at SNEC as a visiting consultant.
Dr Rosman is a regular invited speaker at local, regional and international conferences and symposiums. He has given over 100 talks throughout his career. He has also written numerous book chapters and papers on various ophthalmology topics in peer-review journals. He has given many public talks and has been featured in English, Malay and Chinese media.
He has held several national appointments including member of the National Medical Ethics Committee. He is currently vice-president of the College of Ophthalmologists, Academy of Medicine.
He is a recipient of the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards, Public Administration Medal-Covid and several Long Service Awards.
