Dr Christina Ong is a paediatrician and paediatric gastroenterologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
She trained in London, UK, and has over 20 years of experience. She is dually accredited by the Singapore Medical Council and UK’s General Medical Council as a specialist in general paediatrics and paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
Her subspecialties lie in the management of children with gastrointestinal, liver and nutrition problems. She also specialises in treating children with general medical conditions.
Dr Ong is one of the few doctors in Singapore accredited to perform gastroscopy and colonoscopy in children and adolescents.
Dr Ong completed her medical degree at Imperial College School of Medicine, London. She then went on to undergo specialist training at the major teaching hospitals in London including St Mary’s Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Royal Free Hospital. She became a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics in 2001 and was appointed a Fellow in 2011.
She returned to Singapore in 2011 and worked as a senior consultant and head of the Gastroenterology Service, Paediatric Medicine, at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital until October 2018. She is currently still a visiting consultant to the hospital.
Dr Ong is committed to the teaching of undergraduates and residents. She is an assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
She is frequently invited to lecture at international and local conferences, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals.
