Dr Kenneth Oo is an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His subspecialty includes rhinoplasty, otoplasty, reconstruction of facial defects following injury or tumour resection, microtia reconstruction, complementary surgical and office-based procedures for facial rejuvenation, and head and neck surgery including thyroid, salivary gland and cancers of the head and neck.
He is also experienced in uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, a surgical procedure used to remove tissue and/or remodel tissue in the throat.
He was previously a consultant ENT surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he was in charge of the nose clinic managing patients with nasal allergies and sinusitis. He also ran a multidisciplinary clinic managing patients with voice and reflux problems.
He graduated from the faculty of medicine, National University of Singapore and attained his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2002. He also completed his master's degree in ENT in 2005 and spent 6 years in ENT surgical training in 2009 where he was accredited as a specialist in ENT. Dr Oo also holds a master's degree for his research in tissue engineering.
Dr Oo completed a clinical fellowship in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery with the department of otolaryngology at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He also finished a 1-year Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) clinical fellowship in facial plastic surgery with the department of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, University of Virginia, US. In doing so, he became the earliest Singaporean granted an HMDP award to pursue a facial plastic reconstructive surgery fellowship.
He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
He has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals like The Laryngoscope, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Head and Neck, and Clinics in Facial Plastic Surgery. He has also been invited to give lectures both regionally and internationally, and was the course director for rhinoplasty courses at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and the National University Hospital (NUH). He is currently a faculty member for AO CMF (craniomaxillofacial), and a visiting consultant at Changi General Hospital, SGH and the NUH. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years.
Dr Oo has been a recipient of various awards including first prize for original research at the annual ENT society meeting and the National Medical Research Council fellowship.
