Dr Abel Soh is a consultant endocrinologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in endocrinology and has clinical experience in managing patients with diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, lipid disorders, calcium disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, as well as adrenal and pituitary diseases.
Previously, Dr Soh was a consultant endocrinologist at a private hospital as well as at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
He obtained his medical training from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the UK.
In 2010, he obtained the Health Manpower Development Plan fellowship in diabetes in pregnancy at the Joslin Diabetes Center in the US. Upon his return to Singapore, he co-ran the Gestational Diabetes Joint Clinic at SGH with obstetricians.
Dr Soh initiated the pre-Ramadan counselling programme at SGH in 2011 for Muslim patients with diabetes. The following year, he received the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Gold).
He was actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at SGH. He served as an adjunct assistant professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School and a clinical senior lecturer at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He was also a core faculty member of the SingHealth internal medicine residency programme.
He was previously the vice-president of the Singapore Association for the Study of Obesity. Dr Soh has published in several peer-reviewed scientific journals and has penned 2 book chapters.
