Dr Tan Chong Hiok is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore.
He is experienced in performing stenting of the left main artery and chronic total occlusion. He also manages complex cases in patients who have declined or are unsuitable for bypass surgery.
Dr Tan has dual accreditation in interventional cardiology and echocardiology, and is certified to perform 2D echo, treadmill stress echo, dobutamine stress echo and trans-oesophageal echocardiography.
In 1999, after completing his cardiology training, Dr Tan went to Sydney, Australia, to hone his skills in echocardiology.
Upon returning to Singapore, he worked at Changi General Hospital, where he spearheaded the performing of interventions via the radial approach. He also took up training in interventional cardiology, and spent a year in Asan Medical Centre, South Korea, one of the world's leaders in stenting the left main artery.
Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Tan was the director and senior consultant of the Invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory at Changi General Hospital, as well as a visiting senior consultant at the National Heart Centre and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
Dr Tan has won multiples first prizes in international Chronic Total Occlusion conference case presentation.
He is actively involved in research and teaching, and returns to public institutions regularly to supervise, teach and perform echo and interventional cases. He is an invited faculty member for various international conferences.
