Dr David Tan is a hand surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
His special interests are in traumatic disorders of the wrist, instability of the wrist, forearm axis disorders, and traumatic elbow instability and elbow contractures.
He specialises in wrist arthroscopy, ligament reconstructions, and distal radioulnar joint reconstructions.
He treats a wide variety of wrist disorders and has authored several publications on wrist fractures, wrist instability and wrist arthroplasty. In addition, over the years, he has developed and presented at international and regional specialty meetings on his approach to distal radioulnar joint stabilisation through combined repair of the triangular fibrocartilage complex and extensor carpi ulnaris stabilisation.
Prior to starting private practice, Dr Tan was a senior consultant in the Department of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the National University Hospital. He also served as the department’s residency programme director since 2012.
Dr Tan is a visiting consultant at Changi General Hospital, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
He is the immediate past president of the Singapore Society for Hand Surgery.
