Dr Tan Rui Qi is a psychiatrist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
Her subspecialty interests are geriatric psychiatry and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
She treats conditions related to general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. These include depression, stress-related disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, grief, and dementia.
Prior to joining private practice, Dr Tan was a consultant in the department of psychological medicine at Changi General Hospital (CGH) and helmed multiple roles there. She is currently a visiting consultant at several nursing homes.
She graduated from the National University of Singapore. She is also part of the earliest local batch to complete the intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy core training programme by the ISTDP Institute. She is currently a fellow of the Academy of Medicine.
While at CGH, besides providing psychiatric care to adults of all ages, she also led the inpatient psychogeriatrics services. Through consultation liaison, she collaborated with other medical and surgical specialties to provide expert advice for their patients. She was also appointed the psychiatry clinical lead of the Eastern General Hospital’s planning committee to oversee the service’s development at the new hospital.
Dr Tan is involved in medical education and was appointed clinical faculty educator at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Duke-NUS Medical School.
She is a recipient of the Singapore Health Quality Service Award and the Long Service Award.
