Dr Tan Yeh Hong is a urologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
His special interests are in kidney stone disease, prostate disease/prostate enlargement, uro-oncology, laparoscopic surgery/keyhole surgery, robotic surgery and adrenal disease.
Prior to joining private practice, he was the senior consultant, director of endourology, and director of laparoscopy and robotic surgery in the department of urology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He is currently a visiting consultant there.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Upon completion of his advanced training/urology board examination, he underwent further training in laparoscopy and endourology at Duke University, USA. He also underwent training in minimally invasive urology/laparoscopic surgery at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA. He is an accredited kidney transplant surgeon.
Besides his clinical work, he served as a senior clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and an adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He was appointed visiting professor at Capital Medical University, China.
Dr Tan was the editorial board member for International Journal of Urology and Asian Journal of Urology. He has written various book chapters in international textbooks including Smith’s Textbook of Endourology and Hinman’s Atlas of Urologic Surgery. He serves as reviewer for various journals.
He has also been invited as an international faculty to give lectures in many countries, and perform live surgery demonstrations in China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and Bangladesh.
Dr Tan is an active member of the Endourology Society, USA and the European Association of Urology. He was the former president of the Singapore Urological Association.
