Dr Kelvin Teo is an ophthalmologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
He has specific interests in adult and childhood retina diseases in the eye. In children, these include myopia, inherited retina conditions and retinopathy of prematurity. In adults, his expertise is in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other retina conditions.
Dr Teo graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, UK and obtained his PhD in medical research from the University of Sydney, Australia. He completed his ophthalmology specialist training at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He obtained two fellowships in medical retina, one from SNEC and the other from the Sydney Eye Hospital, University of Sydney, Australia.
Besides his clinical work, he is an adjunct associate professor in the ophthalmology and visual sciences academic clinical programme at Duke-NUS Medical School. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
Dr Teo is also a lead researcher at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI). His work includes new therapies for retina conditions such as gene therapy.
He has published more than 100 peer-review papers and was awarded numerous grants including the National Medical Research Council Transition Award.
