Dr Winston Woon is a general surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He is proficient in general surgery and endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. His main interest is in laparoscopic/robotic surgery including hernia, gall bladder, liver, pancreas and bile duct surgery.
He was a former senior consultant surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he developed the hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgical service in the department of general surgery, and spearheaded the training and adoption of laparoscopic surgery.
Dr Woon headed the HPB surgical service at TTSH from 2010 to 2018. During this time as chief, TTSH was accredited as a training hospital for the Australian & New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic & Biliary Association fellowship programme.
He finished medical school in 1998 and did his specialist training in Australia. His 2 years of subspecialty training was in the field of laparoscopic upper gastrointestinal, liver and pancreatic surgery, with a focus on both benign and malignant conditions. He was involved in kidney and liver transplantation while working at Prince of Wales Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Australia.
Dr Woon is the current president of the Hepato Pancreato Biliary Association (Singapore). He is a regular speaker at international conferences and has published in several peer-reviewed medical and surgical journals.
